Abstract
This article presents selected data from the 2011 Census on the population aged 65 and over and data on social and health services for the elderly, especially in the area of long-term residential care. The authors have analysed the capacity and structure of social care and health services, the structure of users by age and sex, the level of self-care capacity and need for nursing care, users of care allowances etc.
The article also presents information on home health care, domiciliary care and other services for the elderly. The article includes data on health workers in social services and data on mortality in selected social and health facilities
