Abstract
A paper following the academic career of Emil Frida (the famous poet and writer Jaroslav Vrchlický), professor holding the chair of the history of modern literatures at the Czech University of Prague in the years 1893-1912, and his activity as dean of the faculty of philosophy in the years 1903-1904. Addendum I contains a schedule of Vrchlický´s courses of lectures, Addendum II his manuscript reviews of doctoral theses.
