The Health of the Population and Health Policy in 19th century Bohemia : The Case of Asiatic Cholera (1830s-1900s)

Abstrakt

The article deals with both negative impact of the Asiatic cholera epidemics in 19th century Bohemia, but also with positive influences of the struggle with the disease on development of regional health policy, health-care system, municipal hygienne and medical science. The Bohemian case is desribed in a broader Central-European context.
