The first part of the book is polemics with the objectivist approach in biology. The author looks for the root of it in the history of biology.
The approach is compared with the hermeneutic method is presented. The socond part presents mapping of half-forgotten streams of biological thinking in 20th century (and analyzes how could they be useful for a contemporary biologist.
The third part in its three chapters (Ecology of proteins - Morphogenesis - Gaia) presents some of challenges where the hermeneutical approach might appear very productive, hand in hand with more traditional exprimental methods.)
