According the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child each state should assure to the child who is capable of forming his or her own views the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child. The paper presents interviewing pupils with special educational needs as a technique of special educational research, which can give to the pupils a possibility to express their own opinions; attentions is paid to benefits and possible difficulties of interviewing.
Theoretical findings are illustrated by examples from a research, in which interviewing pupils from socially disadvantaged settings took an important part.
