Abstract
Although the creed or testimony is formulated as an answer to a son’s question (a question must precede a testimony), it is a liturgical instruction (confession formula) that defines the creed for a new generation as the fundamental element of tradition. The father’s creed has a structure and it is mentioned four times in the Torah.
