Abstract
On the background of modern Iran and Iraq history the article shows progress and changes of Mandaean community. Solution is urbanization of modern Iraq and also migration.
Because of more possibilities of education in Iran’s cities the tradition occupation of Mandaeans were changed and their economic and social position got getter. Especially educated people wanted reforms and modernization of religion (first of all the ritual of Masbut).
In Saddam Husain’s Iraq the Mandaneans minority was recognize by state and perspectives of Mandaean community was connected with their own ability of keeping Mandaean religion adapt it to the circumstances of modern society. Mainly in this view situation of community is dramatically changed in nowadays Iraq.
The battle for life is more important than the reforms and Mandanean religion is endangered by intolerant justified by religion. Mandaneans are moving away from areas where they live more than 2000 years and now they live in more than 15 states in the world.
The article shows specifies of individual Diaspora’s communities.
