Abstract

In our country, after the Bolshevik revolution, lived a large community of Russian refugees including also Russian Jews. During the Second World War the Russian refugees had to prove to the Nazis that they were not Jews.

They also testi fied about the Russian Jews that they were Russian Orthodox. There was not one case that they would betray somebody to the Nazis.

During the war some Jews were seeking baptism. Some did this in order to be able to receive a visa to countries which required a certificate of Baptism.

Archbishop Savvaty and two priest whom he ordained were Baptizing Jews. Because of this Archbishop Savvaty was imprisoned in the concentration camp Dachau.
