The aim of this paper is to introduce different kinds of Chinese martial activities (wushu) with respect to the differences of their aims and meaning for practitioners. We introduce the following kinds of wushu: wushu as close combat, wushu as martial arts, wushu as sport, wushu as health exercises, wushu as martial paths and wushu as exhibitions.
Then we explain the understanding of wushu in the West and within Czech wushu schools. Our aim is to present a wide range of approaches of wushu practitioners.
