Money is concerned very often. Nevertheless, medieval economic history has stood out of interest of the Czech historiography for longer time.
The aim of the conference is to initiate research in this field. The books of accounts, merchant diaries or Jewish registers belong to the interesting but not always attractive types of medieval sources.
They reflect economic, social and prosopographical connections of the institutions in which they arose (courts, monasteries, towns, hospitals). Moreover, due attention has not been paid to a lot of account sources placed in various archives.
On the basis of the analysis of accounts it is possible to reconstruct not only the budget of a given originator or the frequency of money in circulation. The accounts, referring to individual financial contributions and gifts, are also an important source of social, art and everyday life history.
Nevertheless, processing a large number of files run into considerable methodical problems.
