Abstract

The paper deals with media coverage of rock music on the example of the persecution of underground movement in 1976 – in the period of normalization – with the emphasis on medial analysis of the printed media and oral history research as well. On the basis of up to now recognition it has firstly explicitly appears in the discourse of social sciences how much the media coverage of rock music in general can be unwanted factor for the totalitarian regime and for its hegemonic culture.

It was undesirable because of destabilization of ideological, political, social and cultural-esthetical norms. Logical outcome of this situation was that communist’s regime tried to repress persistently unfavourable expressions of freedom or independence in an artistic creation.

As a result the media coverage of all the speeches of rock music as depends absolutely on the process of institutional censorship procedure. We can verify mentioned hypotheses by using of qualitative research methods as described above.
