Nutrition characteristics of school aged children and its reflection in body composition

Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess body composition (body fat, fat-free mass, body water) and to review nutritional customs in adolescens and to determine their correlation. The investigated sample was composed of adolescents (100 adolescens - 50% male and 50% female) aged 9-15 years.

We used bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA, bioimpedance) for the assessment of body composition. Bioimpedance is well suited for estimatig the fat-free mass of children (10-19 years).

The questionnaire metod we used for the review of nutritional customs. The researcher are devoting increased attention to the study of dietary patterns established during childhood that may predispose individuals to chronic diseases during adulthood.
