The health status of the population should be described especially for proper setting of health and social policy. It is also important to monitor the subjective opinions of people on their health.
These views reflect the actual health status of the population and disability, life satisfaction and overall quality of life. This paper presents data obtained from health issues from a sample survey of the Czech Statistical Office - The European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC).
Wording of the health questions is harmonized with the Minimum European Health Module. Health information about the inhabitants of the Czech Republic is analyzed from many perspectives.
Subjective assessment of the health status of people aged over 16 is monitored by their socio-demographic characteristics, i.e. gender, age, marital status or education. The groups of respondents are also described in relation to their income situation.
