Abstract

The main aim of the article is to analyse populations of working poor employees in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in 2010. The analysis is based on the EU-SILC data.

The first part is devoted to the definitions of poverty and working poor, while the second one deals with the results of the analysis. Two different views are considered - the individual perspective and the household one.

Wages and salaries and consequently overall personal income are compared with the poverty threshold for the household of single person, while the equivalised household income is confronted with the poverty threshold for the given household structure. The characteristics of working poor employees in both countries cannot be omitted.
