Abstract
Transition to democracy in the Czech Republic may be distinguished by several specific features that differ from the otherwise nearby post-communist countries of Central Europe as Hungary and Poland. This paper shows that the unfavorable starting situation of czech lands is making itself negatively felt up to the present day
