Abstract

The book is the result of the project GAČR 407/09/5087. It deals with the reason why institutions of the Czechoslovak social state were created and their development up to the breakup in 1992.

It has 3 parts. The 1st part deals with concept definitions and periods of development of the social state, the 2nd with general societal environment in which if developed, and the 3rd describes the development of individual branches (employment, pensions insurance, housing, health, education, family and poverty).

Rakosník wrote the parts 1918-1956 and Tomeš 1956-1992. Preparatory studies were prepared by Jiří Biskup, Kristina Koldinská, Vojtěch Tkáč (Slovakia) a Daniel Novák.
