Abstract

The aim of the text is to analyse the changes in the production mode due to growing role of intagible assets, in particular the codified knowledge. With respect to better understanding the relations between the context of research and the context of justification and utilisation of its output the prevailing concepts of knowledge based societes are critically assessed.

The specific role of socio-cultural resources is underlined. In conclusion the debated issues of science based society are applied to understand better the barriers and challenges of the transformations in the post-socialist countries.
