Abstract

The aim of the study is to present the Enlightenment systems of public care for the sick poor in Prague. Especially, we do comparison of the Prague (public, stationary) General Hospital with a private (ambulatory) hospital and maternity hospital founded by a young Prague physician-obstetrician Johann Melitsch where the care was directly linked to teaching at the Faculty of Medicine in Prague and thus allow young medics immediate access to the body of poor patients (and pregnant women), which could be monitored by medical care and studied by the medical students in all stages of the disease, respectively. pregnancy.
