The monograph did not set itself the goal of repeating generally known historical facts. Its aim was to analyse the creation and function of myths (national, collaborator and Nazi) in selected large Central European cities and in one small Czech city (Písek) during World War Two (Soukupová, Godula-Węcławowicz, Stawarz and Myslivcová) and myths about the Second Republic and about the war in the post-war period (Luther, Salner and Jurková).
