Abstract
Since 1945, the building of Psychiatric Clinic at Hradec Králové Faculty Hospital was placed at a provisional site, that did not correspond to needs of care, length of hospitalization and growing demands on the quality of hospital care in psychaitry. The new building, the construction of which was supported by Faculty Hospital, provided a contribution to maintain for psychiatry a lasting position among other fields of clinical neurosciences in the hospital and created appropriate conditions for hospital treatment of mentally ill patients.
The room and furnishing of the new building was planned so as to reconcile the need for safety and the usual living conditions of patients. After 40 years since the construction of the Psychiatric Clinic in Brno, it is the the again the construction specifically designed to serve psychiatry and psychiatric patients.
