Mystery of pentraxin-3 not yet resolved: still a long way to its prime time in surgery

The purpose of our contribution was not to deny the results of Boehme, Kaehne, Kuehne, et al. which, by the way, dealt with other problems than pentraxin-3, but to draw attention to the fact that the host´s response to surgical stress by way of pentraxin-3 is not yet known.
