Abstract
The chapter is drawing attention to the new tendency in the treatment of chronic diseases when medical stuff is trying to draw the patient alone into the therapy in the highest chance but the patient must be properly educated. The emphasis is on the new way of cooperation between medical stuff and patient within the motto: The health care worker is a specialist on disease and its treatment, the patient is a specialist on the living with the disease.
There is explained the term 'patient self-management' and the differences between traditional health care and cooperative health care.
