The Communicative Competence of Foreign Medical Students

Abstract

The author of this article introduces various aspects of communicative competence concerning foreign medical students who have to communicate with patients exclusively in Czech. These aspects are divided as follows: language (grammatical) competence, speech and subject competence, discourse competence, strategic competence and socio-cultural competence.

The main part of the article deals with the specifics of socio-cultural competence.
