Abstract

The authors present results of their study of prevalence of cognitive impairment in inhabitants of residential care facilities in the Czech Republic. Cognitive status of 325 residents was examined.

Dementia was present in more than 40% of residents. These results imply the need for specialized care for persons with dementia.

Appropriate education of professionals in residential care facilities is necessary.
