Application of stereological methods for the quantification of VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 expression in early stages of rabbit atherogenesis

Abstrakt

The purpose of this study was to introduce stereological methods that may be used for the quantification of immunohistochemical staining, namely intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1).Stereological methods proved to be useful for the quantification of immunohistochemistry and can be used for an objective characterization of atherogenic changes in atherosclerosis.
