Rats of both sex were estimated after bile duct ligation (BDL).Males after BDL had serum estradiol 119 pmol/l,but females had 669 pmol/l. Inhibitory effect of estradiol on IL-6 and TNF-alpha after BDL in female slowed induction of hepatic fibrosis
