Natualism as a "Native Lyricism of an American"

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

The article deals with Brazilian Naturalism as a "cultural translation" of the French movement and shows how strong were the movment's bonds to the preceding Romanticism. In the second part, it analyses "The Black Man and the Cabin-Boy" (Bom-Crioulo) by Adolfo Caminha as an example of how the Brazilian Naturalism treats race and colour.
