Abstract
Characteristic features of Czech verbs that have obligatory or optional dative valency and description of context of such verbs: position of a dative object in the vicinity of a verb. Syntactic facts presented in the article are used also in specifications of rules within automatic morphological disambiguation of Czech which concern positive dative identification of an object, or - in case of verbs not having dative in their valency frame - discarding possible dative interpretation of the object.
