Abstract
The lecture reflects Brazilian Naturalism as a culturally specific phenomenon, which is not a mere counterfeit of European Naturalism, but in an epoch adverse to both racially and culturally hybrid societies searches its own solutions and ways of coming to terms with the adversity of contemporary European science.
