The issue of attracting highly skilled professionals has becoming a hot issue in Czechia in the context of overall progress towards a knowledge-based economy as well as current structural and anticipated deficiencies of the Czech RDI sector, both in public and private sector. The article aims at initial evaluation of the upcoming amendment of the migration policy in Czechia in the broader context of the current and anticipated need of highly skilled professionals; it also presents the main driving forces shaping the final design of the immigration policy in Czechia.
