Abstract
The article introduces history, development, and current situation of family therapy and systemic practice in the Czech Republic. It includes description of main phases of the discipline´s development, main training institutes and programmes, qualification requirements, and incorporation of family/systemic therapy in both health care and other contexts.
The challenges, which family and systemic therapist currently face and may face in near future, are discussed.
