Abstract

Isogeometric approach to FEM consists in the use of the same basis functions for the domain parameterization and for the solution. We discuss the possibility of using triangular Bernstein patches for this purpose.

We use quadratic polynomial and rational patches and polynomial cubic patches. We optimize the free geometric parameters starting from a rectilinear triangulation.

Eventually we compare the quality of the solution for all used geometric represenstations.
