Abstract
The review focuses on several controversial spots in Tomáš Jirsa's book: on the function of the ornament in the context of the renaissance (contrary to the emphasized role of the modernist approach), on the role of the ornament in the realm of the writing itself and on the limits of the application of the ornamental figure in the literary context.
