Study of genetic variability of Geosmithia isolates using RAPD, sequencing of the ITS region and morphological characters. New species and new combination. / It was found that that G. putterillii sensu Pitt (1979) represents three genetically isolated cryptic species with a worldwide distribution, G. putterillii, G. pallida comb. nov. and G. flava sp. nov., all associated with bark beetles from broad-leaved trees.
Their descriptions are based on a characteristic RAPD-type, a unique ITS sequences and a different phenotype.
