So-called Foundation Charter of the Třebíč Monastery. Fonction and Value of the Memorial Records of Church Institutions

Abstract

The article deals with the problems of the origin and testimony value of the so-called foundation charter of the Třebíč Monastery, a late falsum referring to the beginning of the 12th century. It is only preserved in the Manuscript of Cosmas Chronicle written in Třebíč monastery in the 15th century.

In spite of the later origin of the document the charter was composed on the basis of the old tradition records of the Třebíč monastery and the authentic foundation charter of Hradišt¨§ monastery (near Olomouc).
