Abstract
An entry written for prepared Encyclopedia of the Czech History defines a textbook (History texbook is a specific type of historical literature a didactical-historical text - which is set to a concrete adressee to a pupil or student of all kinds of basic and secondary schools where hsitory is teached as well as to its use in pedagogical communication. From these determinant result its specific functions and to them the whole texboook structure is subordinated), deliminates its characteristic signs, functions a criteria for productions and evalution of textbooks.
