Public affairs in the Czech Republic: an exploratory study of the current situation

Abstract

The goals of the presented articles were to describe and analyze the state of the field of public affairs (PA) in the Czech Republic (in the years 2013-2014). The article examines the discipline from an academic and professional perspective.

It helps to establish the theoretical framework and it offers insight into the development of PA in the Czech Republic. T It has been one of the very first studies published on the topic.

Authors main focus was to describe the current situation and build a solid background of the profession and emerging field for further research: firstly, they characterized professionals working in the field (what is their professional background, education, income, and goals); secondly, defined what are the main issues they dealt with professionally (such as politics, lobbying, and the energy sector); thirdly, they described the market itself and the level of professionalization and institutionalization. Finally, the provided analysis of how PA is understood and perceived by professionals.

Conclusion, of the article, openly stated a few challenges authors encountered during their research and set the next goals.
