Bilateral perinatal torsion of spermatic cord - a case report and literature review

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2013

Abstract

Authors report a case of a newborn with bilateral perinatal torsion. This is the first case described in Czech and Slovac literature.

Authors demonstrate that in newborns physical examination and radiography can be inaccurate to assess the state of testis. In the light of the case study and literature review they strongly recommend bilateral scrotal exploration with preventive testes fixation as soon as possible to protect the healthy gonad.
