Well into the 19th century, manuscript production remained an important and fully-fledged constituent of written communication. Its relations to printed production were much more complicated than it was previously assumed and it can be consedered an independent medium, securing the dissemination of certain types of texts.
The conference Early Modern Manuscript Culture aimed at stimulationg expert discussion on this theme and also, thanks to the participation of scholars from diverse types of institutions, presenting the state of knowledge of the preserved manuscript funds, current research possibilities and new approaches to the theme.
