Ferdinand Hoffman was previously known only in connection with his activities as the patron of arts in the circle of the imperial court. The author tries to explain the broader context of the arrival of the Styrian nobles in the Czech lands, where he founded in the late 16th century a new branch of his family.
The theme of the paper is focused on the activities of Hoffman as a high-ranking official at the court of Rudolf II., his economic activity in Moravia, in northern Bohemia, in Prague and its surroundings. The author also focuses its efforts on representations that are closely linked to his business, especially in mining.
