Abstract
The present study is oriented to the area of one of the aspects of function of diplomacy that R. P.
Barston labels as information/communication. In this frame will be treated the literary work El Enbaxador by Juan Antonio de Vera y Figueroa and the diplomatic correspondence of Baltasar de Zúñiga, with an overlap concerning the instructions for the previously mentioned.
The goal is to present, how the work of Juan Antonio de Vera y Figueroa reflects the ideal associated with a certain aspects of this diplomatic function and what brings about the same subject the practice captured in the correspondence of Baltasar de Zúñiga. It will seek to focus both of them, the formal side of the correspondence as well as its content.
