Abstract

Contemporary neuropsychological studies show that special PC programs are able to improve working memory. In addition, there is an evidence of relationship between working memory and intelligence.

These findings lead to the questions of the cognitive enrichment via working memory training. There are some studies with this topic and some of them demonstrate the transfer.

Surprisingly, studies which want to show the transfer to school performance almost do not exist. Concurrently many studies agree with the idea, that low working memory capacity is important cause of school failure.

Therefore we decided to verify the possibilities of mathematic improvement via working memory training. Design of our study was pretest, training phase and retest.

We show significant improvement of mathematic ability. The possibilities of utilization of these types of program are discussed.
