“...here in Prague towns lazing, disorderly, mischievously living...“ (To the use of law as the means of the protection of the family honour)

Abstract
In the year 1599, Wenceslas Ples Heřmanský of Sloupno, burggrave of Karlštejn, asked the Emperor Rudolf II. to imprison his nephew Paul, who – according to Wenceslas ́ opinion – endangered through his behaviour the honour of the whole Ples family. Wenceslas reminded simultaneously, that Paul was disinherited by his own father and was deprived of the membership of the family.
This contribution investigates this case and points to some less usual means of protection of (family) honour.
