The Transformation of Borders in the Landscape of the Upper Divoké Orlice from 1742 until the Schengen Agreement

Abstract

Borders have always played a significant role in the observed territory and that at least from a Prussian annexation of Silesia in 1742. In the whole territory there was no border crossing till 1990 and even after that it was possible to cross the border only by walk or by bike.In fact only joining the Schengen area by both countries enabled finally to cross the border freely after 265 years, but everything else has been completely changed.
