Quality of PhD study in CU from alumni point of view

Abstract

The paper summarizes the questionnaire data made out from alumni of PhD studies in 17 faculties of Charles University during 2004-2009 years. There were 1 361 alumni in inquiry (48% recover).

The questionnaire had 35 items. The basic findings: Major number of alumni stay in the profession they have studied, PhD study increased their professional knowledge, they have learned new skills.

They perceive the evaluation of their work as respectable and testing as correct. They favorably appreciate the work of their tutors and they are satisfied with their scientific grounding.

There are persisting some problems in reconciliation with inquiry during 2005-2007 years: Only 41% of students went abroad on internship, there are more complicated relationships in humanities liberal arts, the quality of lectures is unsettled.
