Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

The paper focuses on the questions of imagination in Jan Patočka’s philosophy in regard to the context of phenomenology and philosophy of literature. The author puts the phenomenological analysis to explore dynamic structures of human existence.

During World War II Patočka has been developed the conception so-called „horizontal imagination“ („Studie k pojmu světa I“). Regarding the philosophy of literature, Patočka deals with the work of Ivan Vyskočil (in study„Svět Ivana Vyskočila“, 1963).

With obvious help from Ivan Vyskočil work Patočka attempts to rethink his older conception of imagination.
