The review article summarizes current knowledge on indicated prevention of drug substances and indicated prevention programs abroad, where such programs are increasingly more put into practice and their evaluation is carried out, also refers to the situation in the area indicated prevention in the Czech Republic, where the concept is only just beginning. This article aims to further explain the nature of indicated prevention as a relatively new area of prevention.
Define its position in relation to the general and selective primary prevention and relative for secondary prevention. It also presents an overview of risk and protective factors, especially psychosocial and individual, putting relationships between child psychopathology and risk development of substance abuse.
