Exploration of the El-Hayz Oasis : Issues, approaches, challenges

Abstract

This introductory chapter to the collective monograph dedicated to the recent research into the past of the Bahriya Oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt provides an overview of the exploration carried out in the region of El-Hayz up to the present and of the main themes that seem especially important to engage with in the continuing research devoted to the occupation of the El-Hayz Oasis during the Roman and Early Byzantine period.
