Management of life-threatening bleeding

Abstract

Quantitatively speaking, life-threatening bleeding is caused by a major loss of blood and by threatening the patient with tissue and organ hypoperfusion, whatever the exact medical cause might be. The article is focused primarily on management of life-threatening bleeding caused by major blood loss and leading to insufficient tissue perfusion and development of multiple organ failure syndrome.
