Abstract
This article deals with the development of the Roman Missal from the Council of Trent to the Second Vatican Council. The description and the analysis of these changes are the key subject of this paper.
Major attention is also given to the Synod of Pistoja. Many liturgical reforms rejected and condemned at that time have been implemented since Vatican II.
Similar efforts to restore the liturgy have appeared in the 19th and 20th centuries within the Liturgical movement.
